A big thanks to Jolene Jefferies, Director of Sourcing at Union Pacific for her outstanding presentation at the 2006 DirectEmployers Association Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.

The feedback from her presentation has been incredible. Companies that perceive themselves to be in industries more glamorous and more progressive than transportation were truly amazed and impressed not only with the recruitment and employment programs Jolene and her staff have put in place but also with Union Pacific as an employer.

“GI Jobs” Magazine named Union Pacific the nation’s top “Military Friendly Employer” for 2005. The magazine commended Union Pacific’s resource- laden effort and high performance results in recruiting transitioning military personnel.

I’m sure Union Pacific will receive a lofty rating when the 2006 results are released next month. At Union Pacific they do things for the right reasons — that’s why their recruitment and employment programs are so awesome!

Jolene and her staff’s innovation, use of resources and accomplishments were the “buzz” of the conference. Her enthusiastic pride in Union Pacific and the industry she represents were evident in her presentation.
